Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, also fondly referred to as MAPOLY, boasts a rich history and interesting facts that shed light on its journey as a premier institution of learning.

• A Name Steeped in History: MAPOLY was originally established in 1980 as Ogun State Polytechnic during the military administration of Harris Eghagha. While the initial concept belonged to Brigadier Harris Eghagha, it was the government of Chief Olabisi Onabanjo that brought the vision to life.

• Honoring a Benefactor: Following the passing of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, a significant benefactor to the Polytechnic, the institution was renamed Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta in 1998. Chief Abiola, though elected President of Nigeria in 1993, was sadly prevented from taking office.

• From Temporary Sites to a Permanent Home: The Polytechnic’s story began on two temporary campuses – Oke-Egunya and Onikolobo. It was between April 1985 and March 1988 that a permanent location at Ojere was established, solidifying MAPOLY’s physical presence.

• Leadership and Structure: Presently, the institution is steered by Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, the Rector. To ensure smooth operation, MAPOLY is organized into five schools, each overseen by a dedicated Director. These schools further branch out into 21 departments, with a Head of Department leading each one.

Candidates applying for MAPOLY Post UTME Form 2024/2025 must meet the following criteria:

• Eligible First/Second Choice Candidates: Candidates who chose Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta as their first or second choice of institution during the 2024 UTME and scored 100 and above.
• Eligible Change of Institution Candidates: Candidates who did not choose Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta as either their first or second choice but scored 100 and above in the 2024 UTME.
